Wisdom Wednesday XXIII: "Let's Act Like Grown-Ups Please!"

5/4/2016

For my twenty-third Wisdom Wednesday, I am going to re-address something that I have touched upon in other Wisdom Wednesdays in the past. I am going to hit on something that is getting ridiculous on the college scene. I am going to talk about professors and students in college, acting like four year olds over differing political views.

(This is going to be in a written rant like style, so it might be longer than my previous posts.)

Listen, everyone is entitled to their own political beliefs and views, and that we give people respect and dignity when they differ from ours, yeah, doesn't that sound fair and right?...

WRONG!!

That is not how college works my friends! Not at all!

I am going to tell you how college works, and I am not holding back any punches anymore. It is ridiculous what I am seeing the media, and with my own two eyes, and I cannot stand to sit silent anymore. This blog is big, and I hope that this all gets shared to the ends of the Earth, I really do...

First off, you have these students, that are 18, 19, 20, 21, even 22 years old, that think they know the world, and how it all works. Sorry you're wrong on that. They act like "saviors of the world", with their backwards knowledge. They come into college trying to "rebel against the man" and rebel against their parents and authority. They are very impressionable people, and they are told by many professors, to "question authority".

REALLY!! QUESTION AUTHORITY!

The funniest part, is that all of these professors write books, novels, and papers, that literally one person reads, themselves, and they look for the answers as to why no one respects their parents, and police officers, and people above them in the way of life anymore... but they need not look any further than in their own classrooms, where they are teaching these people to do that!

My second point, is that I cannot stand when these people try to act all tough and mighty with their 'newfound' knowledge, and try to pressure you into following their ideology. Like please relax,... just months ago, you needed to raise your hand to go to the bathroom in high school, so please, take a seat.

Listen, what I am about to say next, might offend some people, but preface: I know a lot of excellent, very nice Democrats, but, seriously, student and professor Democrats on a college campus are the literal cancer of learning. These are the worst types of students, and outside people have it all wrong. People always say that its white men, or black men that cause problems on campuses, start protests and riots, and are the counterculture people, but that is so dead wrong. Do you want to know who it is...

It's mostly, about 95% white women, and sometimes, also very rarely black women too.

They are these feminist, mean, angry, people that get in your face, for no good reason. Like seriously, can we be real for a second, people of all races, colors, religions, whatever, we all want women to have equal pay, and representation, and all the good things in life, but I absolutely cannot stand these types of people. You all know the people I am talking about.

I am talking about the short pink, purple, blue, or green haired, five piercings on both ears and one the eyebrow and on the upper and lower lips, four tattoos on the arms or the back, dressed like a man, people. They are some of the meanest people you will ever meet in your life, and yes, some of them are also lesbian, or queer, or whatever, but again, I also know many very nice LGBT people, so, sorry, I'm not going to put those very nice people that I know, with these jackasses at college. That is not fair to them.

Listen, I am a very nice guy to be around, I like to kid around, joke, and laugh, but I am also a Donald Trump supporter (so happy today!), and that is like forbidden on the college campus scene. I cannot tell you how many times, I have been wearing my Trump shirt, or hat, or buttons, and are carrying about my business, walking to class, or reviewing notes, or checking my phone, whatever and have had such dirty looks given to me, and those women come up, and try to start shit with me.

There is one good thing though, and that is that I have been watching and studying both sides of this political season for over a year now, so I know everything about every candidate. You can't fool me on politics, especially with this election cycle.

But anyways, they come up to you, and they curse you out, they spit at you, they call you all the names, racist, xenophobe, homophobe, sexist, you name it, I've been called it, in the past few months at college. This has all happened to me, everything that I have written. Everything except physical violence, but as we move closer to November, that might scaredy change. That is literally the tactics of a four year old. Trying to bully you into believing something else, that you don't agree with, and that is purely just so wrong.

This needs to STOP at college, NOW! It is getting to the point, with this stupid radical, suppressive, Democratic agenda, that in the classrooms, a place of learning, and where respect should be overflowing, you cannot express your political beliefs, if they don't fit with the professor, and a few of the students in that class, so much to the point where you will lose points on tests, and finals, and maybe even fail a class, because you don't want to sacrifice who you are, to people you don't even know, and people who don't give a damn about you.

My friends at college, as well as me, have been faced with receiving failing grades from professors, and name calling from fellow students because of what and who we believe in. Have we really gotten to this point in our country, when the conversation of discourse, and the freedom of speech and party expression, has become so overly squashed out, by insecure people of a differing viewpoint.

I am afraid that we have gotten there guys, and it is only getting worse now.

Don't believe me,... just look at what has happened in the well documented news media over the past few weeks!

First with Virginia Tech, canceling the visit of an esteemed Black-Republican writer for the Wall Street Journal, because they were afraid of 'riots'. Come On! Or look at Harvard University, HARVARD!, where a Catholic-Republican young man was ridiculed by his female professors and students, because he believes that life begins at conception, and was Pro-Life. Really!

Or in the most famous case so far, female students at Brown University, bringing up charges against two people, a white man and a black man for writing "Trump 2016" on the board, with them calling that "Hate-Speech" Are you kidding me! The Swastika on your protest signs against Trump are way more hateful, than his campaign hashtag! People later, all across the country, took to their college campus sidewalks, walls, and even statues, with chalk, in protest of this ridiculous behavior, writing things like "Make America Great Again", "Build the Wall", and the thing that started it all, "Trump 2016"

We need to seriously wake up from this nightmare situation, and all act like big men and women, and grow up, because if we don't, no matter what party you belong to, we will not like what we have become, in what is supposed to be the greatest place to learn in the world, a college campus in America, where differing ideas, are supposed to flow, naturally, and lead to a more complete understanding of the human condition, here in this county.

So that is enough of me getting on my soapbox for today! I hope you all enjoyed it, and please, please share this, and let me know if you want me to go more in depth on any of this 'speech'!

Did you like this post? Do you agree with me, or not? If you do agree, or don't agree, why?

Peace and Love,
DGS

Wisdom Wednesday XXII: "The Three L's In Life: Live, Laugh, Love"

4/28/2016

For my twenty-second Wisdom Wednesday, and in keeping with the theme of my Birthday Week, I am going to write about three principles that I have lived by through these almost nineteen years of my life. I am going to write about something that has helped me in all aspect of my life. I am going to write about the three L's in life, Living, Laughing, and Loving.

The first one is very basic, and it goes with what I wrote about for last week's Wisdom Wednesday, that you need to live life to the fullest. You need to live life, and not be afraid to make mistakes, and you need to take risks. You also need to allow yourself to not be afraid of what others might think of you, and again, you just live life!

The second one is to laugh. So many people these days, especially in my classes in college, take everything so damn seriously. People need to calm down, relax, and laugh sometimes. I try to make jokes and laugh all the time. I do take things seriously, but these people walk around like they have sticks shoved up their asses. Like take a chill pill, or two.

The third and last one, is my most important one, and that is to love. You need to love all throughout your life. You can't go through your life without loving your family, your spouse, your friends, and of course, yourself.

I hope that you are able to use these three L's, and are able to make your life greater because of them!

Was this an interesting post? Did you like the style of this post? Would you want me to highlight, individually, these three L's?

Peace and Love,
DGS

Wisdom Wednesday XXI: "You Only Live Once"

4/21/2016

For my twenty-first Wisdom Wednesday, I am going to write about something that has been a mantra for so many young people. I am going to write about something that was so big a few years ago. I am going to write about "YOLO" or how "You Only Live Once".

The whole feeling behind this saying is that you only get one live to live, you only get one chance, so make the most of it. You need to take advantage of every opportunity that you get in your life, and if you don't then you might have just wasted your opportunity.

You need to attack life with a certain amount of energy, because if you do then you will go after the chances in life, and you will succeed, I have no questions about that. If you take a certain amount of charge in your life, then there is nothing that you can't put your mind to, and that is what You Only Live Once is about.

It really took off as a saying for teenagers in 2012, after it was mentioned as YOLO in a Drake song called "The Motto". The problem was, idiots were doing crazy things like jumping off large buildings and actually dying because of doing stupid things. That has died down drastically these days, but you can still hear some people say YOLO when they are going to do something questionable.

Anyways, I hope that this was a good post, and that you all enjoyed it. I had some fun writing this one, so I hope that it was fun reading it!

Peace and Love,

DGS

Wisdom Wednesday XX: "Don't Give Up, Don't Ever Give Up!"

4/13/2016

For my twentieth Wisdom Wednesday, I am going to write about a phrase that has always stayed with me. I am going to write about the most famous line, from one of the most famous acceptance speeches. I am going to write about Coach Jim Valvano's speech at the ESPY's, while dying of cancer, that he gave the phrase "Don't Give Up,... Don't Ever Give Up!"

He muttered the phrase during his acceptance speech, after getting the first courage award, at the ESPY's, ESPN's version of the Academy Awards. He was a month away from dying, and he told everyone how to live their life, with three simple things to do everyday, which were to laugh, cry, and love. Two of those three things will be highlighted in a future Wisdom Wednesday.

But the main slogan of that speech, and what became associated with his foundation, the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research, was "Don't Give Up,... Don't Ever Give Up!" Now you say, what does that mean to anyone else...

That's very simple. What it means, is that you should never give up on your dreams, no matter what the obstacles are that are in your path. You should never be discouraged to do something by something else that has happened in your life. It should give you renewed determination, and passion, for wanting to chase your dreams.

I am going to link the whole speech down below, and I hope that this will be resourceful to you, because there really is nothing else to say about this speech. It is excellent, and you should follow everything that is in it!

Have you ever heard this speech before? Do you think that it truly is an inspiring speech? Would you follow this speech like I do?
Peace and Love,
DGS

Wisdom Wednesday XIX: "Be Creative In Life!"

4/7/2016

For my nineteenth Wisdom Wednesday, I am going to write about something that I have always been told. I am going to write about something that we all should be doing, all of the time. I am going to write about why you should always be creative in life!

You need to always be creative in life, in everything that you do. You need to always let your imagination take you to new heights, each and every day. There are many big reasons as to why you should want to be creative.

It can help you get a nice job. It can help get you places that you would have never have thought possible to obtain. It can get you thinking on what you want to being doing for the rest of your life.

Being creative is not just something that you can do in your job or wherever. It is something that can be a way of life. You can be creative in whatever it is that you do. It is juts up to you to figure out how you want to go and do the thing that you want to go and do! (I know that was really hard to follow, but you get the point!)

So I hope that this was a nice, quick, and easy post to digest for this Wisdom Wednesday. If you have any suggestions for a topic, for a future Wisdom Wednesday, please let me know!

Have you ever been greatly creative in your life? Why were you creative? Do you think it is better or worse to be creative sometimes?

Peace and Love,
DGS

Wisdom Wednesday XVIII: "C.O.R. in College"

3/31/2016

For my eighteenth Wisdom Wednesday, and I am going to write about a piece of wisdom that I received from my old high school, Kellenberg. I am going to write about something that can shop every single one of our lives. I am going to write about the motto of Civility, Order, and Respect, or "C.O.R.", but apply it to what I have seen so far in my almost year at college.

COR was the guildeines that we had to follow back in Kellenberg. In everything we did, or everywhere we went, we had to display COR to everyone. Let me tell you something, they wanted us to display COR to opponents during games, and that is not easy. I rarely ever did, and they returned the favor too. COR is impossible sometimes to display in sports, but it is very easy to display in everyday life.

There is a bit of civility in college, but not a lot to go around for everyone. People are civil, except when it comes to certain big topics these days, like Gay Rights, Abortion, Feminism, and other balls of wax of that nature. Like God forbid that you have a differing opinion than those other people, to create a dialogue, and try to learn the other side of the story, to become a more rounded individual.

You can display COR in everyday life, by letting other people have their opinions. That goes into the last one of respect. A lot of people in college need this, not going to lie here. In college, some people get in there, mostly girls, and have their way about life, and everyone else is wrong, and they need to know it. That completely goes against COR in every way, shape, and form. These people in college seriously need to relax.

I seriously cannot stand these 18-19 year old fake "social activists", that honestly don't know jack shit about anything. Perfect example of no COR in college is those college kids who are 'democrats', that go and try to disrupt Donald Trump rallies, and when they are asked by the reporters why they are there, they go "I don't know".

What do you mean I don't know! That is the work of absolutely no COR, and the work of liberal professors trying to make one political party seem better than the rest with propaganda, and not giving order and respect to the other side. Trust me I have seen this in action, and it is so stupid. They tell these impressionable teenagers that Communism is ok! ARE YOU SERIOUS!! I want the number and location of the crack dealers some of these professors, because whatever they are smoking must be really strong.

I really do hope that this can all change, and that we can all just stop acting so sensitive, and starting living life with some of the COR values!

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the post, and can live out some form of COR in your daily life!

Have you ever displayed the feelings of COR in you life? Was it easy or was it hard? Which one of the COR values, do you find the most important

Peace and Love,
DGS

Wisdom Wednesday XVII: "WWJD: What Would Jesus Do?"

3/24/2016

For my seventeenth Wisdom Wednesday, and in keeping with the theme of Holy Week, I am going to write about a phrase that I heard a lot during my time coming up through Catholic elementary, middle, and high schools. I am going to write about something so true to the core of my faith. I am going to write about WWJD, meaning What Would Jesus Do?

The whole basis around this saying is that we must live our lives like Jesus did, through love, peace, and good works. We need to sometimes turn the other cheek when it comes to tough situations, and we need to approach the situations as Jesus would.

Trust me, it is not easy at all to follow this advice. This might be the hardest thing to follow that I have ever given out. There can be times when we don't want to be kind to those who hurt us, or forgive those that do wrong to us, but we always need to be better, and to overcome the adversity, and act in a way that proves our civility, or order, and our respect.

There have been times in my life where I was faced with adversity from fellow friends and random strangers, and in some cases, I followed this advice, and in most cases I didn't. I am not going to lie here on this blog, this is really hard to follow sometimes, because human nature says to get even for wrongdoings, and to hold grudges for a very long time. But like I said, we need to sometimes take a deep breath or two, and turn the other cheek. It can be very difficult at times, and not too pleasant to do, but we need to do it.

If we do it, then trust me, you will gain respect, and then you might even be able to end the conflict right there, in the way you present yourself. If you do this, you both in the disagreement, can go home and sleep easy, knowing the past is in the past, and we all can move on with life. That is what this is all about, forgiving and not so much forgetting, but definitely moving on with your life.

I hope that this was a good piece of advice, and good for this time of the year!

Did you enjoy this advice? Have you ever tried to live life like this? Has it succeeded, or has it failed?

Peace and Love,
DGS

Wisdom Wednesday XVI: "It's Alright to Make Mistakes!"

3/9/2016

For my sixteenth Wisdom Wednesday, I am going to write about something that we forget to do in our day to day lives. I am going to write about something that we all fear. I am going to write about how it is ok to make mistakes.

Guys, it is alright to make some mistakes. I have made so many in my life, I am sure that you all have done so too. We have said things we want to take back, done actions we would think twice about, and we have done other things that run the gamut of the scale of mistakes. But we need to always keep moving forward, and move on from it.

There is one quote that I have used in this blog once before, that means a lot to this blog post today. It is from Wisdom Wednesday IX: "Just Do It", and it is from President Theodore Roosevelt, and it says, "The only man who makes mistakes, is the man who never does anything." That is such a great quote we cannot live in fear of making mistakes. We need to make them, and then learn from them. That is how we must live out our lives!

There is also another big quote that I always have liked, and that is from an unknown source, and it says, "The biggest mistake in life, is being afraid to make one." This is so huge in how we should live out our lives, each and every day. We need to live life how we want to, and if you make mistakes, so be it. Learn from them, and keep pushing on!

I want all readers of this blog to remember this. Each Wisdom Wednesday builds off of the last one. All of them together, have created a nice 'story-book', type of thing to follow good tips, that I have learned, to get you through the tough times in your life!

I hope that you are able to take something from this blog post, and are able to live life with a bit more gusto!

Was this a good blog post? Are you going to live your life a bit more freely now? Are you not going to be afraid anymore to make mistakes?

Peace and Love,
DGS

Quote of the Day: "When you are able to extend your life span, past your own life span, that's really something. That's hard to do." - Sir George Martin

(I want to write a little thing here about the passing of Sir George Martin. That is why I chose one quote today, and its from him. He was the 'Fifth Beatle" in many ways. He was their producer, and boy was he a good one. He wrote the backing orchestral accompaniments to many of the Beatles songs, such as "A Day In The Life", "Eleanor Rigby", "Yesterday", and the entire second instrumental side of the 1969 Beatles album, Yellow Submarine, for the animated film of the same name. He also played instruments on many Beatles songs, and was always trying to make the Beatles push the envelope.

He also co-wrote the score for the 1973 James Bond film, Live and Let Die, with Paul McCartney and Wings. He worked after the Beatles separated in 1970 a lot with George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and Paul McCartney especially. He won eight Grammys with the Beatles. He helped produce the Beatles Anthology project in 1996, especially on the Billboard number one hit single, "Free As A Bird" / "Real Love". He was knighted with Paul and Linda in 1996, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, with Sir Paul McCartney in 1999. His last two works with the Beatles was helping, with his son Giles, with the Love project with Cirque de Soleil in 2007, and the remastering of The Beatles catalogue in 2009 for sale, and for use in the video game, The Beatles Rockband. He will be missed by all Beatles fans, and all fans of music in general.)

Rest in Peace Sir George Martin - January 3rd, 1926 - March 8th, 2016
