Being yourself. This is such a hard thing to do sometimes. We are afraid of rejection. We are afraid of failing. We are afraid of the unknown, that if we put ourselves out there, what will happen. Will it be good, or will it be bad? These questions and many many more are what stop us from being ourselves.
Being yourself sounds so simple, and sometimes it is, but in other times it might be the hardest thing in the world to do. You might be shy and don't want to speak out your mind in class. You might be afraid of what others might think of you. They might think you are weird, or strange, or that you aren't cool. Well screw them! It's your life, go live it the way you want to!
Are you really willing to sacrifice your individuality for the sake of one or two people in your classes at college, or anywhere for that matter. If you answered yes to that.. why? You should answer no to that. You should not want to give up who you are, for the sake of people that really don't care for you. Never, ever compromise for these people!
So raise your hand in class about some random crap that might sound weird, (but don't tell me your life story. I still don't care about that shit, Plain English. Stick to the topic being talked about in class.) Be yourself when you go out. Be yourself when you walk through life. Just don't commit crimes... those are that cool. If you need to change yourself when you go out with your friends, then they aren't your friends. You shouldn't need to go and change yourself to fit the people that should know you the best. See what I am saying?
Be yourself and who cares about what some random person that you didn't know for the first eighteen and a half years of your life, and you only see twice a week, for an hour and a half, after the three months you're together, you probably never see them again!
So in the end, please don't lose sleep over these random people making fun of you, but you better lose sleep if you are not being yourself!
Do you ever feel like being yourself is wrong / weird? Do you ever try to fight it, or do you change who you are?
Peace and Love,
DGS
