These recent terrorist attacks by ISIS in Paris are the worst terrorist attacks in a decade and one of the worst of all time. Today we remember those lost in these attacks, but we also stand with France, that they will be able to pull through and show these losers that they will not succeed in scaring us off.
All Americans and especially New Yorkers will stand or should stand with the French. Forget about the long standing ally thing, and the past wars we fought on the same side with. The main and only reason we should stand with the French is because they were the first phone call made to the US after 9/11. They gave support and aid to us in our darkest time, and ran many newslines in their papers saying "Today, we are all Americans" and "Today, we are all New Yorkers". Well we returned the favor today as the New York Times ran the two headlines "Today, we are all French" and "Today, we are all Parisians".
As I write this post, the Congress of the USA, the Parliments of Canada, Britian, Ireland, Paris, Spain, Italy, Russia, Germany, and a plethora of other countries are meeting in session to talk about a possible strike against ISIS. This could be the closest we have come to WWIII since the middle of the Cold War with the USSR in the 50's. I am a bit nervous as I live minutes away from one of the biggest cities and biggest targets in the world.
The USA has done many things already in a matter of hours for Paris and France. They played the National Anthem of France before the Rangers game today in Ottawa, becoming the first game in Canada history to play three national anthems before the game. Before the Army college football game, both teams ran out of the tunnel together holding the American and French flags. Facebook has allowed for the French Flag filter to come onto any profile picture. Boston, who went through their own tragedy offered condolences and prayers.
We have shown the world that we all are united today and that they too are all united with the French. ISIS WILL NOT WIN. Their run of tyranny is over now because now they have pissed off the wrong countries. We will succeed and we will stand United as One Nation and One World.
