Every Tuesday, I will write a little bit about a particular song in my life, why I like it, and link the song below.
The first song I will do is one that I love the lyrics to, and a song from one of my favorite artists of all time, Frank Sinatra. The song "The Way You Look Tonight", is such a beautiful song about a man taking a woman out on date, and being amazed at what she looks like, and how she makes him feel. The song brings you back to a much more simpler time in the world. Its such a beautiful love song and the musical backing behind it is just awesome. I have always loved jazz, and big band music, and orchestral accompaniments, so I immediately was drawn to this piece of music.
I sang this song as a solo for my school during my time in my jazz chorus, Firebird Swing, and I instantly fell in love with the tune. It says things like "Lovely, Don't you ever change, keep your breathless charm, won't you please arrange it, cause I love you, and just the way you look tonight.", "With each word, your tenderness grows, tearing my fear apart. And that laugh, that wrinkles up your nose, it touches my foolish heart.", "someday, when I'm awfully low, when the world is cold, I will feel a glow just thinking of you, and the way you look tonight.", and "yes you're lovely, with your smile so warm, and your cheeks so soft. There is nothing for me but to love you, and the way you look tonight."
This song is one that really could speak to any two lovers, at any time during their relationship. I always think its someone taking a girl out and siting in a restaurant, and this guy is just staring at this girl saying these things in his head, and falling head over heels in love over this girl.
