The Boy From New York City

Film Friday XIV: "The Dictator"

For my fourteenth Film Friday, I am going to write about a seriously underrated comedy. I am going to write about one of me and my two cousins favorite movies. I am going to write about the 2012 Sacha Baron Cohen movie "The Dictator".

The basic premise of the movie, is that there is a dictator from a fictional country of Wadiya, in Africa, with a dictator by the name of Admiral General Haffaz Aladeen. He has to go to the United Nations in New York City, to explain his nuclear weapons issues. He then has an assassination attempt on his life, by his chief of staff. It doesn't work, and he winds up in Queens, and then runs to the UN to try and stop a fake Aladeen from reading a fake speech to the UN, saying that they are going to be friendly to the world now.

He then meets a girl, who takes him back to Brooklyn, where they start to fall in love. He also is trying to kill the body-double to take back the throne for real, and stop his country of Wadiya from aligning with the UN, and being a democracy. In the end he gets his chief of staff arrested on conspiracy charges, and he has his chance to, but doesn't rip up the document. He then moves back to Wadiya with his new wife, and they live happy ever after, in their new 'democracy', now with rigged elections, now titled President Prime Minister Admiral General Aladeen.

The movie is so funny, from beginning to end. I am going to try and find the best bits, and put them down below. Almost as funny as the movie, is the soundtrack, with songs like The Last Episode, now being sung by him, in his fake language of his country. This movie is on Netflix, so I strongly suggest that you all go and watch it!

I hope that you all can go and see this movie, and enjoy this movie like I do!

Have you ever seen this movie before? Would you go and watch it after reading this blog? If you have seen this movie before, what is / are your favorite part(s)?
Peace and Love,
DGS
