Film Friday I: "My Cousin Vinny"

I am starting a new thing every Friday now that will be called Film Friday, where every Friday I will talk about one of my favorite movies, why it is a favorite movie, and tag a few clips down below for you to enjoy. The first movie that I will talk about is my all-time favorite comedy, 1992's My Cousin Vinny.

My Cousin Vinny is the type of movie that you watch on a rainy day, or a day when you're not feeling yourself. From beginning to end, this movie will make you cry laughing.

The plot of the movie is pretty simple, but it is in this simplicity, that makes it hysterical. Two teenage guys that are going down to college in Alabama, stop at a convenience store. They leave and "two similar guys in a similar looking car" go in and shoot the clerk in the back. They then get pulled over and arrested with the murder and are threatened with execution by electrocution. The one kid calls his cousin, Vinny, who is a lawyer down, to help try to free them. Problem is he has no clue what to do, so what ensues is some the greatest courtroom scenes ever put to film.

The cast in the film is excellent, Long Island native Ralph Macchio is one of the teenagers in the film. Joe Pesci, is Vinny Gambini, the fumbling lawyer. Marisa Tomei is Vinny's fiancé in the film. She won an Academy Award for her part. Fred Gwyne, who a lot of people know as Herman Munster, is Judge Chamberlain Haller. Bruce McGill, who was in a lot of other films and shows like Animal House, and Rizzoli and Isles, is the sheriff. Also, the voice of Gurgle from Finding Nemo, Austin Pendleton, is the stuttering lawyer in the film.

Every time this movie is on, I watch it, and can recite almost every scene in the movie by heart. (Honestly, I can!) My favorite scene, which I will put down below, is the courtroom scene, with Vinny's new suit. The back and forth between him and the judge, and his long monologue of his trials of getting a new suit in the town, are hysterical. Also other scenes included are the stuttering lawyer scene, the grits scene, and the deer scene.

Have you ever seen this film? If so, what was you're favorite part(s)? Would you want to see this film?
Peace and Love,
DGS
